Losing weight with pleasure
Farewell to the long list of strict, sometimes dangerous diets, that leave the mind and the body in a state of dangerous depletion, and prove to be pointless on the long run because the weight is gained back as soon as the diet is over.  What a hectic job for the researchers looking for the miracle method.  Have we found it ? Apparently, those who have tested it, have come out totally satisfied.
Patients who have followed the "Protein Diet" or the "Protein Fast ”, assure you that you have a real hope of losing weight without too much pain, or none at all.   However, there will be no fanciful diets, nor superfluous words.  To lose weight, first you have to go on a diet.

DIET AND ITS PROTEIN SUPPLY
The idea of fasting is not recent but the Protein Fast is an innovation.  In our culture Ramadan and Lent are practiced as a means to rebalance the body systems.  Likewise the Protein Fast recommends the elimination of sugar and fat from the diet as a result of which the pancreas is at rest and fat is no longer stocked.  Starting from this point, the body derives energy from its reserves.  During its transformation, fat creates ketonic substances that act in an euphoric and dynamic way on the brain, and are effective as hunger stoppers.  This is what Dr.BLACKBURN, Nutrition Professor in Harvard University, called ketogenesis.  Weight loss should only occur to the detriment of the fat mass, while safeguarding the noble mass of the body: the muscles, the organs and the skin.  But pay attention, to insure a serious weight loss, one must not feel hunger.  The therapist's role is to propose to the patient a diet where hunger is non-existing.  With the Protein Fast, hunger disappears between 48 and 72 hours, as soon as ketogenesis starts.  But what kind of diet? No more eating at all? Certainly not.  The patients have a strict fast program for one or two weeks (ideally) during which they will only consume vegetables (steamed, but with seasoning), along with protein sachets according to a medical prescription. . These sachets can be made into hot drinks (cocoa, capuccino), pudding (caramel, chocolate, coconut, vanilla, coffee), cream soup or broth... the prescriptions include vitamins, potassium, calcium and trace elements to be taken orally as supplements.  During this first stage, evidently alcohol is forbidden.  During phase two, the diet allows eating white meat, fish or poultry, white cheese, but is always based on vegetables that could be prepared with different flavors and spices. To succeed, you have to be creative in cooking to prepare eggplant with garlic, steamed vegetables with herbs or even tabouleh without burghol ….  What about the diet results ?  On average there is a weight loss of 20 kilos in 20 weeks, around 6 to 8 kilos per month for women, and between 8 and 10 kilos per month for men.                                                  

A PROTEIN DIET
Obesity treatment is crucial and urgent since it is a major cause of morbidity and mortality.  Certainly obesity may be the result of several factors such as genetic, psycho-emotional , psycho-social, familial, environmental, or due to a disturbance of the endocrine glands but essentially the dietary approach of obesity treatment consists of establishing a negative caloric balance that leads to the catabolism of triglycerides, which is translated as an efficient and definite weight loss.  Hence, the nutritionist who is daily confronted with seriously overweight patients, has to prescribe a balanced, efficient and safe diet.  So he has two Possibilities: either the low calorie diet or the ketogenic regimen.

THE FAILURE OF LOW-CALORIE DIETS

Since the sensation of hunger is ever present, and  patients have to limit themselves to small portions of food, so many people cheat, or  simply give up.

For the above reasons, the low-calorie diet is not indicated for the treatment of obesity, especially since it might have certain side effects.

Consider simply the case of a cardiac person with 25 kilos overweight who quits the low-calorie diet after losing 10 kilos because of this lack of motivation, and eventually goes back to his old eating habits.  Consequent weight gain or short term or even medium term is inevitable and prove fatal to his health.

Let us finally remember that professor BRITSTRIAN from Harvard University, had demonstrated in 1980, during the 30 th Conference of the American Society of Bariatric Physicians, in his speech entitled "ULTRA LOW DIETS ", that the balanced low-calorie diets could lead to a loss of muscles ranging between 15 and 25 % of the total weight loss.
